French Faiselle

Traditional French faisselle made of tin. These were used in French kitchens for draining fresh cheeses, like chèvre, allowing the whey to slowly strain through the small holes.

This style has a simple, utilitarian shape with a soft, aged patina. The tin has darkened in places and shows the kind of wear you’d expect from an old kitchen tool.

Today they’re often used as small planters, to hold kitchen utensils, as a tea light candle holder, or displayed with other antique French culinary pieces.
