French Pottery Faisselle

Large French pottery faisselle, traditionally used for draining fresh cheeses in French kitchens. This one has a footed base and a glazed finish, with the small drainage holes around that allowed whey to slowly strain away.

The glaze has softened with time and the pottery. Simple, functional, and full of character.

Today they’re often used as small planters, to hold kitchen utensils, or displayed with other antique French culinary pieces.
